Myth #1: GETTING ALL A’S IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Updated: May 20, 2020

Grades do matter however; there are several items that are considered.

Before you get discouraged because your GPA isn’t a 4.0 or above, understanding a

college’s level of selectivity, rigor level of classes per what is provided by your

high school, and demonstrating an upward trend in your grades over time create

a total picture for colleges. At the end of the day, they want to feel confident that

if admitted, you can be successful.

High school can be a confusing place, mostly in your junior and senior years. You must keep your grades up, prepare and take your ACTS and SATS, participate in extracurriculars, do volunteer hours, and make experiences, all while deciding what you want to do with your future. Throughout high school, Dr. Bradley has always been there to lend me advice. She was the reason that I stayed motivated when it got hard.  She would let all her students know about scholarships that she would find and would encourage us to apply for them. She also kept me informed about deadlines, helped me prepare my personal statement and scholarship essays, and wrote recommendation letters for me. I honestly do not know what I would do without her, even now, that I’m a second-year college student; she still keeps me in check.

My experience with CROP was great! I was able to set up meetings when I had questions, concerns, or needed general advice. The meetings were always as long as I needed and never felt rushed. CROP gave me an experience tailored to my specific needs and ultimately helped me get into my dream school!
